AP Environmental Science:
A Hands-On Interdisciplinary Approach
The quality of life in the world hinges on our ability to resolve some very complex environmental issues. Environmental Scientists work to address problems such as global climate change, water and air pollution, deforestation, declining fish populations, habitat loss, and the management of our natural resources. In Environmental Science you will analyze these issues and learn how to make a difference in solving these challenges.
AP Environmental science is an interdisciplinary study of ecology, biology, ocean and atmospheric sciences, climatology, chemistry, geology, physics, toxicology, geology, economics, politics, and ethics. This |

laboratory course is designed to be the equivalent of a college introductory environmental science course, both in the wide range of topics studied and in the depth, specificity and detail of course material. The goals of the AP Environmental Science course are to (1) provide students with the scientific principles, concepts and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships in the natural world, (2) to identify and analyze environmental problems or challenges (both natural and human-made), (3) to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and (4) to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them. |
